My work explores the experience of the child/dream self as it moves through the world. Surreal, imperfect expressions of landscape and body reflect the strange and refulgent fixations of my inner life. Inner lives interact with, conform to, and depart from the logics of the outer world.

Bio

Indigo Deany was born in central Illinois and grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. She earned her M.A. in Social Science at the University of Chicago, studying decolonial theories of industrial agriculture through the lens of waterhemp, an indigenous disruptor of hegemonic production infrastructures. Before Chicago, Indigo worked in social service programs in community health, crisis assistance, and food systems.
